Third Annual
Awards Banquet and
Ceremony
Every
year, Coastal Martial Arts recognizes their students in an annual award
ceremony. This event serves to unite the various schools and families
and is a time where everyone can celebrate their accomplishments.
This tradition began in 1998 and has become the standard of excellence
in the Maine Martial Arts communities. Students are recognized for
many categories inclusive of Perfect Attendance, Academic Excellence, Athletic
Excellence, Citizenship, Promotions to Junior and Senior Assistant Instructors,
State - Regional - and National Award recognition, Excellence in Techniques,
Commendable Effort, School Spirit, Hero Award, Budo Awards, Fitness Awards,
Student of the Year in various locations, and Overall Student of the Year.
Parents, Community members, and Businesses are also recognized for their
contributions and support.
This
award ceremony was created out of a need for students who are not enrolled
in traditional sports, i.e. basketball, baseball, and cheering to gain
the same sense of accomplishment and recognition that organized sports
athletes receive. It is also a measurable gauge to establish credibility
of the Martial Arts within the community and dispel many myths that the
Martial Arts are violent and aggressive. Our school is ready and
willing to help any other Martial Arts school establish a similar type
of ceremony and will help with the planning, etc. at no charge. Our
goal is to promote unity in the Martial Arts and help our children develop
the sense of Accomplishment and Self Esteem that is needed
to preserve the future of Martial Arts and build our future leaders.
