Coastal Martial Arts offers a series of Special events throughout
the training year
to enhance the student's skills, knowledge, and self esteem.
Guest Trainers
High ranked and renowned instructors from a diverse range of Martial
Arts styles, offer low cost or free clinics to students in convenient locations.
These clinics are very popular and allow students to see a new perspective
on the Martial Arts, as well as expand their interests into broader areas.
Overnight Summer Camps
Summer training camps are offered every summer in Maine. Students
are generally exposed to several Masters and Grand Masters who represent
several different styles of the Martial Arts. Camp fun includes traditional
camp activities such as swimming, games, crafts, etc. and also specialized
classes, Oriental crafts, and team building exercises.
Sleepovers
Students enrolled in Coastal Martial Arts gather from all locations
to have a night of fun that includes: Martial Arts classes, movies,
games, and contests. Evenings generally start with a Martial Arts
class, then dinner contests and end the next morning with a surprise breakfast
that wakes everyone up.
Annual Award Ceremony
A special evening where awards are given to each enrolled student
based on effort, accomplishments, and personal growth. Each student
is a WINNER. This night is the night that students remember.
It is a formal affair with special guests and excellent food. This
is the one event of the year that is MANDATORY for all students.
Advanced Classes and All DOJO Workouts
Monthly events where students receive specialized training when they
advance in rank, and where all students can train with their fellow classmates
from other communities. This class is fast paced and dynamic for
all of the participants. Parents are welcome to bring video cameras
to record information for home study.
Competition Team
Competitions are where students may choose to test their skills against
other students from other styles. Students must be at least
6 years old and have trained with Coastal Martial Arts for a minimum of
6 months before becoming eligible to compete. Tournament training
is held by request and is considered to be a private lesson unless there
are at least 10 students in attendance. Tournament participationis
strictly voluntary and is not a mandatory requirement for attendance or
promotion.
Demo Team
This is a specially trained group of students who represent Coastal
Martial Arts at Community Events, Schools, Civic Clubs, and Athletic Activities.
Students perform synchronized kata to music, demonstrate advance weapons
techniques, and act as good will representatives for the Martial Arts.
Any student who has achieved the rank of Rokkyu (Blue Belt) or higher may
join the demo team.
