Youth Programs
Aiki
BuJutso Do
Coastal Martial Arts uses a unique approach to create a dynamic and successful youth program. First, children are taught the basic values of discipline and honesty, while they learn respect for themselves, their peers, and authority. Children are taught the basic precepts of the Martial Arts, but the material is presented in an age appropriate context and speed for all participants.Using a progressive teaching model, older and higher ranked students "mentor" newer and younger students to help develop appropriate social skills and provide a beneficial role model for positive behaviors. All students learn and practice a dynamic Code of Values and are held accountable for their decisions and actions.
Additionally,
children are offered a diverse variety of Martial Arts related activities
which allow them to develop an appreciation for their families, communities,
and peers. These activities are generally low cost and are open for
family participation on a space available basis. They include retreats,
camping trips, family days, overnight parties, etc.
Adult Programs
Aiki
BuJutso Do
Adults are offered a solid training program that is physically satisfying, educational, and fun. Each student is allowed to work in his or her own capacity and is not required to be in peak physical condition to start.
Classes are fun, challenging,
and diverse, consisting of basic stretches, low impact warm up exercises,
then basic Martial Art techniques. In the latter half of the
class, students will also receive specialized training in Aiki BuJutsu
Do, which is a combination of Shorin Ryu Karate, Okinawan Kobudo, Ju Jitsu,
Judo, and Taiho Jitsu. Full contact sparring is not allowed at any
time, and controlled sparring begins when a student has advanced to an
intermediate stage and desires to participate. A student is never
forced to do techniques which he or she may be uncomfortable with, and
accommodations can be made for those who may have special needs or circumstances.
Special classes are held on a bi-monthly basis for Black Belt Students to learn advance materials which are not taught in regular classes. Coastal Martial Arts is proud to state that nearly 100% of its Black Belts hold ranks in at least two styles of the Martial Arts. Black Belts who transfer in are matched with a senior student to become familiar with the training offered by Coastal Martial Arts.
